A woman charged with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly left her a recorded message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal was told phone records and information obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is among the most widely reported child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate recorded message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that through emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, told the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."
