Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.

‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director

Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.

"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".

"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist

In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.

"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.

Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted

This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.

A legal directive put a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.

The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

Fallout and Commentary

After the deaths, public individuals shared varying responses.

Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.

Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan ended by proposing that an aide could have acted when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
