New information has come to light about the tragic deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence home on Sunday.

A Alarm

As detailed in an account quoting a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

Furthermore pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
