A Palestinian-American teenager having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest last February throughout the West Bank territory, during a family visit from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, which he previously denied.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

Family described him as visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues acquired while detained.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact since February, and only heard about his son's condition through judicial records.
