Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.
