Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's resignation on Monday.

The Manager's Position on Celtic

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"There have been such discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a unique position here at a special team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but naturally it's a massive football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I tackle this role like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker played for Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is inclined to finish the ongoing global tournament campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up their group runners-up.

Given his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
